Gruntish (my Halo fanfic) is currently in the process of being continued. I am dedicating my spare time to writing it this year (currently I'm halfway through chapter 13) and also to a major overhaul. I would have probably had chapter 13 written by now but I had to make some minor changes (and also ended up editing chunks).

None of this overhaul, except for Chapter 6: Man Boobies, will be seen until the story has been completed (the first story anyway). My plan is to continue to release the new chapters as PDFs, but not touch the old Chapters (I am debating what to do with Chapter 6 [update it and erase the old stuff completely or simply upload the new version seperately] since it has information that is being changed which will affect the rest of the new releases). Once the overhaul is comlete, and the story is complete, I will upload chapters 1 to 11 or 12 as revised editions.

In the overhaul I keep mentioning I plan to:

Remove all double-spaced indents (and in some cases the spacing between paragraphs I added for the purpose of making the later chapters more readable on Deviantart) and add tabs. This is going to be the most tedious and time consuming task as there are approximately 170 pages that have double space indenting.
 Fix up the copious amounts of typos and missing words.
 Imrpove sentence structures.
 Improve the general flow of the story by changing some of the desciptions, removing some small bits or adding some where I feel it is necessary (without changing the overall story itself).
 Fix inconsistencies and decide what to actually make the consitancy (e.g. I believe I originally called the Gold Elites Lieutenants, and later at some point called them Captains). Other inconsistancies are things like ship layout and and capitalisation.

A note about consistencies: I was debating whether to replace "Elite" with "Sanghelie" (and do the same for the other species) but decided against it for several reasons, the main one being I believe it would change the feel of Gruntish. I also started the fanfic when only Halo: CE was around (but later included elements of Halo 2) and when the story The Fall of Reach (if no one who's a Halo fan has read that book, shame on you ) was still considered "canon". As Bungie's Halo universe evolved and changed and became more detailed, Gruntish became futhur and futhur untrue to this canon and, at some point, I just gave up keeping up. For those who have read Gruntish them you obviously know that, yes, Gruntish is not exactly the kind of story that "follows" canon, but without some links to the canon Halo it would be in a sense not so funny anymore.

In a nutshell, I am deciding to stick to Halo 1 and the original Fall of Reach content for the most part, but, I am including other stuff. Thank you, Halo Wiki! You make life much easier.

A note about early story content: A long time ago I had made public some of the story's intended arcs and went so far as to invite people to make characters. I want to make it clear (in case there are some of these original and much loved readers reading this journal) that I have decided not to use these submitted character profiles, and probably will not use most of the talked about plot content that was not already used. The reasons are numerous; the most major one to me being that I am no longer in contact with many of the creators of the submitted characters, and it would be unfair to use them now. Also, it has been quite some time and as mentioned plans have changed. There are another coupls of reasons as well.

The biggest thing I want to ensure is that Gruntish lives up to the name it has forged. I want it to continue to be funny; I am of the opinion that as soon as something light hearted and silly tries to go down the road of a serious plot, it turns to crap (or at least I've felt myself enjoying such series less). I want to keep Gruntish on the path of light hearted and funny, which is why I am erradicating plans for that conspiracy and Zara being a secret agent etc (if you have no idea what I'm talking about, that's good! ). There will be a vague continuation of the spies-on-a-ship thing going on, but in a much more Gruntish manner.

And I'd like to thank anyone and everyone who has read Gruntish, especially my sister, who helps me behind scenes by allowing my to brainstorm. It would look a bit weird if I were to talk aloud to myself and laugh at my own comments...
