This is a refrence sheet I made for a character in a fan manga I am doing with my sister (it's a Naruto fan manga...).

This character is Haiki Bokusouchi, and is based on my friend Ashlee. This character is in her last year of the Ninja Acadamy, and is also training as an apprentice Medical Ninja.

In my fan manga, The Village Hidden In The Grass are trying to train new medical ninjas to reduce casualties (they are aiming to have at least one for every squad), after having so many of their young ninjas killed in recent years. They adopted this regime from the Leaf Ninjas who had debated it often.

The uniform
In my fan manga, Grass medical-nin apprentices wear a specific uniform until they pass a test set by their teachers (it is seperate to the chunin exams; a medical-nin apprentice can be a chunin or a genin). Medical nins still get their forehead protectors after graduating from the acadamy, and continue training as a medical-nin afterwards. In their last year at the acadamy, medical-nin apprentices are assigned a team for which they are allowed to go on missions with to gain practical experience. However they are limited to the types of missions they can go on.

Anyway that's just stuff I invented for the fan manga, until more info about Grass Village is availible.

Haiki and all the main characters planned to be in the naruto fan manga are from the Village Hidden In The Grass (in case that wasn't already made obvious ).

The actual artwork

In my last character refrence sheets I wasn't pleased with the shading and highlights, so in this one I aimed for less shadows, and no higlights at all (unless something was metal, but there was no metal). I do like it's appearance better now, but I still am not fully pleased with the shading. I have improved with feet I think, but they also will be something I continue to work on.
