The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

I should be happy right now, but I'm not, coz 4 of my 360 games have been stolen, my bow was used to put a fucking hole in the garage door, and a whole bunch of other shit (thanks to the reatard tenant who rented my room). Games stolen include Fallout New Vegas, Lost Planet, Naruto Broken Bond and Rainbow Six 2 Vegas. That's just ridiculous.

Admitedly, I'm only 99.98% sure they were stolen: see we have a DVD rack in the loungeroom, where we put the game cases. Those 4 game discs were missing, I searched all the other cases to see if anyone doubled them up, I checked the console, and my sister doesn't lend games out without the cases going with them. I'm so pissed, to say the least; those games cost alot of money, and I will not be able to replace them. If that whiny little prick comes around to my flat while I'm here, I'm going to smash him.
