Tough Shit

Journal Entry: Tue Feb 9, 2010, 8:40 PM
That's what I am; even more so in a few months. I have to say... I PASSED THE FRIGGIN' ARMY INTERVIES! Now I just gotta do the fitness test and get my blood taken and I'll be packing my bags for the Army boot camp! Shit ye-ayah. Kapooka here I come; I, Ms. Le'Gallais, am gonna bust my ass and get that six pack I've always wanted (and no I don't mean the beer kind, I mean the rock-hard Xena Warrior Princess kind). I'm already toning my muscles; have been for some time. But I am no warrior yet... give me 4-6 weeks though and I'll be powering through my push-ups and have the most bi-cepy arms and she-girl legs ever. I finally think I discovered why all my attempts to be thin failed... I was born to be beefy; to carry out arduos work on aircraft whose spare parts weight half a tonne plus; to eat like a man and yell like one too. And perhaps, even, to teach those men that stick women are not the only kind that exist. Big strong women exist too (right now my sister will be expecting a refrence to She-Ra).

And onto other news... and apologies.

Actually apologies first; I am so busy right now that I won't be entering any contests bar 1 - I will notify anyone who was expecting my entry soon that I will not be competing. Also sorry to the people who I have yet to reply to. 98% of you will never see thsi though, so I feel real bad - but I just don't have the time.

What time I do get to myself to spend on my computer and DA I want to spend doing several things - stories that I want to update, stuff for *DRACODOPTABLES and an avatar request, and whatever else was on my art-to-do list.

Sounds selfish of me, but with my xbox 360 dead, art is now my only source of entertainment besides books (oh and I got some super sculpy recently so I'll be dabbling with that too).

Thank you to everyone who replied to my comments, or leaves comments. Thank you to the people who like my work enough to warrant faving it, and thank you to the people who have made - and I am sure will continue to make- my time on DA interesting and fun.

Edit: Forgot to mention in my haste it's for the Reserves, but they have the same standard of fitness and same interviews which is why I am so very happy to have gotten so far. It's even harder than the Air Force fitness assessment.

awesome work, good on you for passing the exams! Good to see you're glad to accept an entirely different pace of life and focus. You're going to kick ass. Eager to hear how this all goes down!

Thanks! I'll be sure to keep my journal updated with any significant news regarding this. I can't wait to see where I'll be 12 months down the track; this year is certainly going to be a challenge. Biggest hurdle at the moment is the shuttle run (part of the fitness assessment) - I've been doing the wrong kind of exercises for it apparantly. Starting tommorow I'm going to be doing more sprints at the oval and less hiking. I really like hiking, but besides the need for short but fast runs, I am also worried about hurting my ankle - almost screwed it the other day comming down the mountain, and it's still a bit tender. Nice flat grassy sports fields it is for me, from now on mostly.

Thanks! :tighthug: I have some work ahead of me to pass the fitness assessment, though that seems to be progressing at a decent pace for me. The sargeant who is in charge of recruiting has been immensly helpful and supportive without being too soft. I'll be sure not to do anything I'm not ready for though - if my fitness for example takes an extra few weeks than planned, then so be it - I'll swallow my pride to do what I have to pass. Same with the basic training - even if I have to start drinking coffee to stay awake I'll do it  (I tend to get real tired at the end of a hard day, but I am hoping that with improved fitness, the effects will include more energy to keep me going).

I'll be in the Reserves, so it is unlikely - though not impossible - that I It'd Do me good to actually be in a war zone, it'll be that last reality check I think I need to ready me for full time service. Though speaking of which, if I do end up in full time service, there's more than a good chance I'd be deployed! So who knows, perhaps one day we will indeed meet; it'd be really great to see you in person
