You're right about it being a childhood thing; I once had a dog when I was younger, but my parents got rid of him because a storm sent him crazy. We got a cat a couple of years later, he was the best cat ever (we named him Moses).
What a coincidence though; I was in about 3rd grade too when we first got our Moses. He died earlier this year though, but he lived a long happy life. He enjoyed eating yogurt so much, no matter where he was in the house, he could hear you peeling off a yogurt lid - and he's come running I hope your cat continues to live happily

I see, it must have been a really strong or big storm that scared him. Or it could be an over sensitive dog which is freaked out by a little weather
I recall having a dog at a very young age (1 or 3 years old I was) but it passed away due to old age and ever since then I grew out of doggy delight. Though I do not mind dogs but am scared of some because I got bitten and to be frank; it was close to my cr*tch! Freaked me out, really!
Awwww, Moses is a cute name for a pet cat Hehe I believe, he delivered you out of lonelyness many times over
Woah! Small world indeed! I never thought we would have the same experience with pets, well for the age of 3
Im sorry to hear that he passed away, we had 2 of our cats pass away because of "1. Run over accident & 2. Never cam back home" and that # 2 case, we just assumed because among all our cats Lucky was the most friendly and its not like him to never return home
But on the bright side, cats do enjoy sweet things! Hehe I never expected yogurt though
Yup, our cat Zoe is 13 years old (in human age) and she is one tough kittie, fat, spoiled and lazy to boot

As I recall, I was only on the 3rd grade when we got our 1st house cat. 13 years later, she is still with us!
Well its a childhood thing, which ever pet you grew up with will be the pet you will like for the next years to come (though changes can happen).
